Who we are
Supplement Scholar (supplementscholar.org, "we", "us") is an educational website operated by Matthew Katzman in the United States. Questions about this policy: use our Contact page and choose "Something else" or "Delete my data".
What we collect
- Contact form: your email address, the topic and your message.
- Accounts (when sign-in is enabled): your email address, the display name you choose, and anything you post in discussions. Sign-in uses one-time email links, so we never see or store a password.
- Server logs: like every website, our host (Netlify) automatically records technical data for each request, such as IP address, browser type, the page requested and the time. We use this only for security, troubleshooting and counting visits in aggregate.
- Stored only in your browser: your stack, compare list, medication list in the stack checker, and light/dark preference are saved in your browser's local storage. They never leave your device and we cannot see them.
We do not knowingly collect sensitive health information. Please don't include personal medical details in messages or public posts.
How we use it
- To reply to your messages.
- To run accounts and community discussions.
- To keep the site secure and working, and to understand overall traffic.
We do not sell, rent or trade personal information, and we do not use it for targeted advertising.
How long we keep it
Contact messages: up to 24 months, then deleted. Account data: until you delete your account or ask us to. Server logs: kept by our host for a limited period under its own policies.
Your choices and rights
You can ask us to access, correct or delete your personal information at any time through the Contact page (choose "Delete my data"). We will respond within 30 days. Depending on where you live (for example California or the European Union), you may have additional rights under local law, and we honor those requests regardless of location. We do not sell or share personal information as those terms are defined in California law.
Children
This site is not directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect information from them. Accounts require you to be at least 18. If you believe a child has given us information, contact us and we will delete it.
Security
The site is served over HTTPS, and accounts use passwordless sign-in. No method of transmission or storage is completely secure, but we take reasonable steps to protect your information.
Changes to this policy
If we change this policy, we will update the date at the top of this page. Significant changes will be noted on the site.
