Frequently asked questions

What is Supplement Scholar?+

Supplement Scholar is an independent, research-first reference for dietary supplements. Every profile links to peer-reviewed human studies so you can verify claims yourself instead of taking marketing copy at face value.

Is this medical advice?+

No. Supplement Scholar is for educational purposes only and is not a substitute for advice from a qualified healthcare professional. Always speak to your physician before starting, stopping, or combining supplements — especially if you take prescription medication.

How do you choose which supplements to cover?+

We prioritize compounds with a meaningful body of human research (RCTs, meta-analyses, systematic reviews). Anecdotes and animal-only data may be noted as context but are not used to make efficacy claims.

How often is the site updated?+

Profiles are reviewed as new high-quality studies are published. You can also follow the comment thread on each supplement page to see community experience reports from signed-in users.

Do you sell supplements or take affiliate commissions?+

No. Supplement Scholar does not sell products and is not affiliated with any brand. The goal is unbiased reference material.

Can I request a supplement be added?+

Yes — use the Contact page. Tell us the compound name and, if you can, link a study or source. We review every submission.

Why do I need an account to comment?+

Accounts cut down on spam and let you edit or delete your own posts. Reading the comment thread is open to everyone; posting requires a free account.

How is my data handled?+

We store the minimum needed to run the site (email for auth, your posts, your saved stacks). We do not sell personal data. Contact us through the form to request deletion.
