The person and the purpose behind Supplement Scholar.

Hi. I am Matthew Katzman, a nutrition and evidence-based health enthusiast based in Westport, Connecticut. I am currently studying Dietetics at Arizona State University, where I get into the science of human nutrition, clinical dietetics, and how dietary compounds actually affect health and performance.

I started Supplement Scholar because finding trustworthy, unbiased supplement information is harder than it should be. Most of what exists online is either marketing copy or anecdote. The goal here is to create a centralized, research-driven reference that treats supplements as compounds to be evaluated through peer-reviewed literature, not hype.

Every profile is written with the same standard: human studies first, clear mechanism summaries, and transparent sourcing. If a claim cannot be traced to published evidence, it does not belong here.

This is a living project. Profiles are updated as new research emerges, and corrections are reviewed and published. The goal is not to sell products, but to make the science accessible and to help people make informed decisions about what they put in their bodies.
