Synthetic amylin analog taken with mealtime insulin to blunt blood-sugar spikes after meals.

What it is

Approved in 2005 for type 1 diabetes and insulin-treated type 2 diabetes. It replaces amylin, a hormone made alongside insulin that people with diabetes lack or make too little of.
