How it acts on the body

Gonadorelin produces a faithful native-GnRH signal, which makes it useful both for restoring HPG axis function (pulsatile delivery mimics the natural ~90-minute pulse) and for diagnostic stimulation testing.

Critically, continuous (non-pulsatile) GnRH signaling has the opposite effect: it desensitizes the pituitary receptors and shuts down LH/FSH output — which is how related agonists like leuprolide produce chemical castration. The same molecule can therefore be stimulating or suppressive depending on how it is delivered.
