How it acts on the body

GHRP-6 is the prototypical ghrelin mimetic and the first of its class characterized in detail. The receptor that pulses GH from the pituitary is also expressed on NPY/AgRP hunger neurons, which is why injection produces a noticeable appetite spike within minutes.

Compared with GHRP-2, the GH pulse is similar but appetite, cortisol, and prolactin responses are stronger. That makes it a poor first choice for fat-loss or insulin-sensitivity goals, but historically interesting in cachexia and post-injury anorexia where stimulating hunger is the point.
